Day-by-Day Itinerary

A 5 Nights / 6 Days itinerary for Amarnath Yatra by Road from Pahalgam.

  • Arrive at Srinagar Airport, meet our tour representative and proceed to Pahalgam by road.
  • On arrival, check in at the hotel and rest after the journey.
  • The remaining time is at leisure; take a relaxed walk or simply enjoy the valley surroundings.

Overnight: Pahalgam

  • Fuel up with an early breakfast and travel by road from Pahalgam to Chandanwari, the access point for the Pahalgam Yatra route.
  • Begin the trek from Chandanwari and climb towards Pissu Top before continuing to Sheshnag.
  • On arrival, settle into the tented accommodation and rest amid the high-altitude surroundings.

Overnight: Sheshnag Camp

  • After breakfast, begin the trek from Sheshnag towards Panchtarni, crossing the steep Mahagunas Pass.
  • After a short rest at Panchtarni, continue towards the Holy Amarnath Cave for darshan.
  • Upon reaching, seek blessings at the naturally formed ice lingam and then trek back to Panchtarni.

Overnight: Panchtarni Camp

  • Begin your day with breakfast, then proceed from Panchtarni to Baltal as per the planned trekking route.
  • On reaching Baltal, meet the vehicle for the onwards road transfer to Sonamarg.
  • Check in at the pre-booked hotel and spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

Overnight: Sonamarg

  • Start your day with breakfast, check out, and drive to Srinagar.
  • En route, visit Kheer Bhawani Temple, one of Kashmir Valley’s revered pilgrimage sites.
  • After reaching Srinagar, check in and continue with sightseeing at Nishat Bagh and Shalimar Bagh.
  • Conclude the day with a Shikara ride on Dal Lake before returning to the hotel.

Overnight: Srinagar

  • Have breakfast and complete the check-out formalities.
  • Transfer to Srinagar Airport for your onward journey.

Important Information

  • Valid Yatra Permit, RFID card and government-issued photo ID.
  • Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) issued in the prescribed format by an authorised doctor or medical institution.
  • Sturdy trekking shoes with good grip and comfortable socks.
  • Warm layers, rain protection, gloves and a light waterproof outer layer.
  • Personal medicines, basic first-aid essentials and any doctor-recommended medication.
  • Water bottle, small daypack, power bank and only the essentials you can comfortably carry.
  • Undertaking the Yatra without a valid permit, RFID card and required health documents.
  • Carrying alcohol, tobacco products or intoxicants on the pilgrimage route.
  • Littering or leaving plastic waste along the trekking route and at camps.
  • Entering restricted areas or ignoring instructions issued by Yatra and security authorities.

Best fit: July to August, when the Shri Amarnathji Yatra officially operates, and pilgrims are permitted to undertake the journey to the Holy Cave.

Also possible: The exact Yatra dates change every year. Plan your trip only within the officially announced pilgrimage window and confirm your registration, permit and route before travelling.

Avoid: Outside the official Yatra season, access to the Holy Cave pilgrimage route is restricted, and the journey should not be planned as a regular trek or sightseeing trip.

  • The Pahalgam route from Chandanwari to the Holy Cave is approximately 32 km and involves sustained high-altitude trekking.
  • Yatra movement is regulated by authorities and may be paused because of rain, landslides, track damage or other safety concerns.
  • Langars, medical facilities, tented accommodation and pony/pithu/palki services are available at designated locations during the Yatra, subject to official operations.
  • Check the latest Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board advisory shortly before departure, even if your travel arrangements are already confirmed.
