Cooler, drier weather makes sightseeing at Hampi, Badami, Aihole and Pattadakal much more comfortable, while Chikmagalur is pleasant and Goa has better beach conditions. Hampi and Badami are both particularly suited to the cooler months.

March is still workable but becomes warmer, especially around Hampi and Badami. September is greener after the monsoon and can suit sightseeing, though Goa may still see rain and rougher sea conditions.

April and May can be very hot at Karnataka’s open heritage sites. June to August brings heavy monsoon rain to Chikmagalur and Goa, while slippery paths and showers can also affect Badami and other outdoor sightseeing. Goa’s beach swimming is restricted during the monsoon.
