Overview

This 5-day Yamunotri–Gangotri Yatra begins with Haridwar/Dehradun and a scenic drive to Barkot via Mussoorie, with a stop at Kempty Falls. Further, travel to Janki Chatti/Phool Chatti and trek to Yamunotri for a bath at Jamunabai Kund, Yamunaji darshan, and puja at Divya Shila. Continue to Uttarkashi to visit Vishwanath Temple and Shakti Temple, then take a day trip to Gangotri and the scenic Harsil Valley. Conclude with Rishikesh sightseeing and drop off at Haridwar Railway Station/Dehradun Airport. This package covers sightseeing, stays, and meals.

Itinerary Detail

Day 1:Haridwar/Dehradun – Barkot (210 km/7–8 hours)

Arrive at Haridwar or Dehradun Airport, then proceed to Barkot via Mussoorie. En route, visit Kempty Falls (it is advisable to have lunch here, as good dining options are limited further ahead). On arrival in Barkot, transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax and prepare for the Yamunotri trek. Further, have dinner and stay overnight in Barkot.

Day 2:Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot (36 km drive + 6 km trek one way)

Today, after breakfast, get on a drive to Janki Chatti/Phool Chatti and begin the 6 km trek to Yamunotri (on foot or by pony/doli at your own cost). On arrival, take a holy bath in the warm waters of Jamunabai Kund and proceed to Yamunaji darshan. You may offer puja at Divya Shila and experience the traditional prasad preparation by dipping rice in the hot kund. Later, trek back to Janki Chatti and return to Barkot. Further, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3:Barkot – Uttarkashi (90 km/4 hours)

Proceed towards Uttarkashi. On arrival, visit Vishwanath Temple and other local temples, including Shakti Temple (as feasible). Check in at the hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Further, have dinner and stay overnight in Uttarkashi.

Day 4:Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Uttarkashi (100 km/3–4 hours each way)

Early morning, proceed to Gangotri. En route, stop at Gangnani for a holy dip in Garam Kund and continue via the scenic Harsil Valley. On arrival at Gangotri, take a sacred dip in the river (Bhagirathi at its origin) and perform puja and darshan. After spending time in the serene surroundings, return to Uttarkashi. Further, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 5:Uttarkashi – Rishikesh – Haridwar/Dehradun (190 km/5–6 hours)

This is the last day of your trip. Wake up, have breakfast, and proceed to Rishikesh. Visit key sights (subject to time): Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula, Triveni Ghat, Bharat Mandir, and Shivananda Ashram. Later, you will be dropped at Haridwar Railway Station or Dehradun Airport for your onward journey.
