A hill station that blooms to a new life after every monsoon and promises spell-binding beauty in all its serenity, Bhandardara is the place for every kind of traveler. Located 70 km from Nashik in Maharashtra, the place is a kaleidoscope of lush green surroundings, waterfalls, streams, and mountains. Legends have it that the sage Agastya meditated at this very place. Due to this, God gifted him with a stream from one of the holiest rivers in India, the Ganga, known today as Pravara. This particular stream is the region’s lifeline and has given rise to many beautiful water bodies. Prominent among them are Arthur Lake, Randha Falls, and Umbrella Falls.

The hill station is also renowned for its religious spots. The place is associated with the legendary sage, which boasts the Agasti Rishi Ashram, located on the banks of the river Pravara. There is also one 11th-century Hindu temple in the vicinity of the region. The temple is built in the Hemadpanthi architectural style and is renowned as the Amruteshwar temple. Bhandardara has such a topography that it is widely visited by nature lovers and trekkers. Mount Kalsubai, the highest peak in Maharashtra, resides here and is a popular spot for trekkers. Other than this, Ratangad fort is also a highly popular stoppage during trekking trips.

Best Time to Visit Bhandardara Hill Station

August through December are the best months to travel to Bhandardara to explore the area’s lush vegetation. It is not advised to visit Bhandardara during the summer, especially in the months of March, April, and May, as it may get extremely hot here.
