Important Information

  • Comfortable walking shoes for forts, palaces and heritage complexes.
  • Light cotton clothing, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen for daytime sightseeing.
  • A light jacket or layers from November to February, especially for mornings and evenings in Delhi and Rajasthan.
  • Modest clothing or a scarf/stole for temples, mosques and churches.
  • Swimwear, beach footwear and sun protection for the Goa stay.
  • A compact umbrella or light rain jacket if travelling during the monsoon or in October.
  • Valid photo ID, personal medicines and a small day bag for sightseeing.
  • Drones are prohibited at the Taj Mahal, and tripods are not permitted without approval. Photography is also prohibited inside the main mausoleum.
  • Do not carry food, tobacco, liquor, knives, smoking materials, large bags or other prohibited items into the Taj Mahal complex.
  • At ASI-protected monuments, avoid climbing structures, touching or scratching carvings, graffiti, entering restricted areas or unauthorised drone/tripod use.
  • At Ranakpur Jain Temple, dress modestly and remove footwear; leather items are generally not permitted inside the temple.
  • Swimming or bathing in the sea during Goa’s monsoon is prohibited; always follow lifeguard flags and beach warning boards.

Best fit: November to February. Cooler, drier weather makes fort visits, city sightseeing and road journeys across Rajasthan more comfortable, while Goa is well suited to beach time. Rajasthan Tourism identifies winter as its best season, while Goa sees very little rain during these months.

Also possible: March and October. March is mostly dry but starts getting warmer, particularly in Rajasthan. October becomes more comfortable in the north, but Goa can still receive rain as the monsoon withdraws.

Avoid: April to September. April and May can be very hot across Rajasthan, making fort and monument visits tiring. From June to September, Goa receives heavy monsoon rain; official Goa tourism guidance also prohibits sea bathing/swimming during the monsoon period because of dangerous currents.

  • The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday, so schedule the Agra day accordingly.
  • This is a multi-city itinerary with several road, rail and air transfers, so keep some flexibility for traffic, train or flight delays.
  • December and January can bring cold mornings in North India; layers are useful even though Goa remains warm.
  • Rajasthan sightseeing involves considerable walking, stairs and exposed outdoor areas, particularly at forts such as Amber and Mehrangarh.
  • Check current monument timings, entry rules and photography restrictions before each visit, as operational arrangements can change.
  • At religious places, follow the local dress code, footwear and photography rules and avoid disturbing worship or services.
  • Goa beach conditions vary by season; follow lifeguard instructions before entering the water or booking water activities.
