Best fit: October to March, when Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Khajuraho and Varanasi generally have more comfortable weather for monument visits, heritage walks, temple sightseeing and outdoor experiences.

Also possible: July to September can work for travellers who do not mind humidity and occasional rain. The landscapes around Orchha and Khajuraho can also look greener during the monsoon.

Avoid: May to June can be uncomfortable for long hours of outdoor sightseeing because of high daytime temperatures, particularly in Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, and Khajuraho. Plan early-morning and evening sightseeing where possible.

  • The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so plan the Agra sightseeing day accordingly. Carry a valid government-issued ID for entry.
  • The itinerary combines road transfers, a train journey and domestic flights, so keep some flexibility for traffic or operational delays.
