A 5 Nights / 6 Days itinerary for Darjeeling Gangtok Tour.

  • Arrive at Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, where our representative will meet you.
  • Proceed by road to Gangtok and check in at the hotel on arrival.
  • Spend the remaining day at leisure. You can relax at the hotel or step out to explore the nearby areas.

Overnight: Gangtok

  • After breakfast, begin your excursion to Tsomgo Lake, one of Sikkim’s well-known high-altitude lakes.
  • Continue to Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, surrounded by the mountain landscape of East Sikkim.
  • Later, return to Gangtok.
  • In the evening, you can explore MG Road and Lal Bazaar for local shopping and leisure.

Overnight: Gangtok

Note: Nathula Pass can be arranged for Indian nationals at an additional cost, subject to permits, weather, road conditions and availability. Nathula requires a Protected Area Permit and is currently not open on Mondays.

  • Start your day with breakfast and proceed for a sightseeing tour of Gangtok.
  • Visit Tashi Viewpoint and Ganesh Tok for views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape.
  • Continue to Banjhakri Falls and Do Drul Chorten.
  • Visit the Research Institute of Tibetology and Directorate of Handicrafts & Handlooms.
  • You can also visit the orchid sanctuary, depending on the season.
  • Return to the hotel in the evening.

Overnight: Gangtok

  • The next morning, after breakfast, check out from the hotel and begin your drive to Darjeeling.
  • Enjoy the changing mountain scenery as you travel from Sikkim towards Darjeeling.
  • On arrival, check in at the hotel and relax.
  • The rest of the day is free to explore the surroundings at your own pace.

Overnight: Darjeeling

  • Begin early with a visit to Tiger Hill to watch the sunrise over the Himalayan ranges.
  • Return to the hotel for breakfast and proceed for Darjeeling sightseeing.
  • Visit Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute.
  • Spend time at a Darjeeling tea estate and learn more about the region’s famous tea culture.
  • Continue to Ghoom Monastery, Batasia Loop and Peace Pagoda.
  • Visit the Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre before returning to the hotel.

Best fit: March to May and October to November, when the weather is generally more comfortable for Gangtok and Darjeeling sightseeing, mountain views and outdoor excursions.

Also possible: December to February can suit travellers who enjoy colder weather. High-altitude excursions around Tsomgo Lake may offer snowy landscapes, but road access remains dependent on weather conditions.

Avoid: June to August brings the main monsoon period. Heavy rainfall can affect mountain roads, sightseeing plans and travel time, so keep flexibility in the itinerary if travelling during these months.

  • Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir fall within protected areas and require permits.
  • Nathula Pass is open only to Indian nationals and requires a separate permit arranged through a registered travel agency.
  • Weather can affect access to Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir and Nathula at short notice.
