About 100 kilometers from Bangalore, Lepakshi is a tiny village in the Anantpur District of Andhra Pradesh. Lepakshi is of immense archeological and historical importance. It houses some of India’s best murals. The three shrines dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Virabhadra are important tourist destinations in Lepakshi. The Virabhadra Temple dedicated to Lord Virabhadra showcases typical Vijayanagar architecture. The sculptures, art and statues are very well done and especially the Nandi Bull which is made out of single granite stone. Lepakshi is accessible from different parts of the country by rail, road and air. Anantpur is connected to other parts of India.
