48 Days Amarnath Yatra 2016 to Begin on July 2

Amarnath Yatra in 2015Dates for the much awaited Annual Amarnath Pilgrimage have been finally declared. The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) confirmed that the Amarnath Yatra in 2016 would begin from July 2 on Massik Shivaratri as per hindu calander and conclude on Shravan Purnima (Raksha Bandan) on August 18 after 48 days.

The meeting of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) was headed by Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, NN Vohra, who is also the chairman of SASB. The duration and dates for the Yatra were decided after discussions with the advisory board, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Committee.

To ensure the safety and security of the pilgrims, the board has decided that only 7,500 pilgrims would be allowed to register for the Amarnath Yatra on per day per route basis.

“There would be about 16,000 pilgrims on the tracks every day. The Board has further decided that the registration process should commence from February 29.
