Gulbarga used to be the erstwhile capital of the Bahamani Kingdom which ruled this region. The Gulbarga Fort built by Bahamanis is a famous monument and one of the major tourist attractions in Gulbarga. Tour to Gulbarga in Karnataka is quite popular among those who love to take a peek at history.

Gulbarga is a divisional head quarters of the four districts of Karnataka viz., Bidar, Bellary, Raichur, and Gulbarga and a major district and the 6th big city of Karnataka. Gulbarga is also the seat of Gulbarga University. The City is major trade center and administrative center.

What to See in Gulbarga:

The main tourist attractions to be seen on Gulbarga tours are the monuments belonging to the erstwhile Bahamani rulers. The Gulbarga fort is an important tourist spot. This fort has 15 towers. Though currently in ruins, it still breathes out some of its past glory. Inside the fort is to be found, Jama Masjid, said to have been built by a Moorish architect from Spain in the late 14th century. The mosque is said to be an imitation of the great Cordoba Mosque in southern Spain.

Other places of tourist interest on tour to Gulbarga in India are the imposing tombs of the Bahamani rulers, the Haft Gumbaz, the tomb of Khwaja Bande Nawaz and the Sharana Basaveshwara temple.

How to Reach Gulbarga:

Gulbarga does not have an airport of its own. However, Gulbarga falls on the main Mumbai-Bangalore line, and a number of express trains are available from here. A considerable number of trains for Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kochi are passes through Gulbarga. Gulbarga is also well connected y road to different parts of Karnataka. A regular bus service connects Gulbarga to Bidar (3 hours) and Bijapur (3 hours). Overnight buses are also available from Gulbarga for Bangalore and Hyderabad.
