Idukki is densely covered by thick forest and is best reached by road. The nearest airport is Cochin International Airport, situated 132 km away. Kottayam Railway Station is the closest railhead, situated 133 km from Idukki. You can hire a cab or board a bus from the airport or railway station to reach Idukki. It is well-connected by a vast network of roads to several tourist centers in Kerala, as the NH-49 (Kochi-Madurai) passes through the Idukki district.
