• Shanti Vana – Lying close to the Raj Ghat, the Shanti Vana (literally translated from Hindi as the forest of peace) is where India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, was cremated. The area is now a beautiful park adorned by trees planted by visiting dignitaries and heads of state.
• Raj Ghat – On the banks of the River Yamuna is the Raj Ghat, the last resting place of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation. It has become an essential point of call for all visiting dignitaries. Two museums dedicated to Gandhi are situated nearby.
• Red Fort – One of the most spectacular pieces of Mughal Architecture is the Lal Quila, or the Red Fort, built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan between 1638 and 1648. The Red Fort has walls extending up to 2 km in length, varying from 18 meters on the riverside to 33 meters on the city side. This is one of the major nearby tourist attractions to the National Rose Garden in Chanakyapuri Delhi.
