Overview

Founded by Maharaja Suraj Mal in 1733, KeoladeoBharatpur was once the capital of Jat Kingdom ruled by Sinsinwar Maharajas. Legend says that this land of Jats has its own significance and tells heroic tales of braveries against the attacks by Mughals and the British. Keoladeo Ghana National Park is also known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, The best time to visit Bharatpur is from November to March. The region is quite famous for its forts and palaces, which exhibit a seamless blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture.

By Train

Being the Central Railway Zone, Bharatpur is well-connected to Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai and Ahmadabad.

By Air

Agra’s Kheria Airport is the nearest domestic terminal. It is located around 45 kilometers away from Bharatpur. From here onwards, you’ll have to take taxi to reach Bharatpur.

By Road

The National Highway number 2 connects Delhi to Bharatpur via Mathura. From Mathura, Bharatpur is around 45 kilometers on a small road. Private vehicle (cars) or taxi cabs is the best way to reach Bharatpur in shortest possible time.
