One of the most popular tourist attractions of Shillong, Lady Hydari Park, is equally popular among locals and tourists. Covering over a kilometre, Lady Hydari Park in Shillong is a well-manicured lush garden consisting of a mini zoo. This zoo is home to around 140 reptile species, 73 avifauna species, and other mammals such as deer and serow. The other animals and birds spotted here include Leopard, Jackal, Porcupine, Himalayan black bear, Kite, Hornbill, and Mynah.

The park, named after the wife of the Governor of Assam, Lady Hydari, is a serene oasis in the heart of Shillong. Designed in a Japanese style, it boasts a diverse collection of orchids and flowering plants. Whether you’re taking a leisurely stroll, reading a book on a bench, or observing the animals in their natural habitat, the park’s tranquil atmosphere is sure to relax you. The vibrant flowers add to the park’s beauty, creating a peaceful retreat for all visitors.

Lady Hydari Park also has a museum and a kid’s playing zone with different swings, such as slips and a sea-saw. The museum displays the state’s rich biodiversity, including pictures of rare animals of the region, elephant skulls, stuffed leopards, and more. This park is ideal for spending some peaceful moments with your loved ones. Willow trees, rhododendron plants, and small ponds can be seen in Shillong park.
