Set up in 1989, the Government Museum is 2 km away from Ooty, on the Mysore highway. The museum is storehouse to some of historic objects, district’s ecological details, intricate art works and sculptures of Tamil Nadu. It was constructed with an objective to provide educational benefits to the locals of Nilgiri district.
It is a must-visit place for those who want to know the cultures and traditions of Tamil Nadu. The entry to the museum is free. The visiting hours during first half of the day is from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and in second half from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Also, the museum is closed on National holidays, Fridays and second Saturdays of the month.
