Hazratbal Shrine

Nestled on the left bank of Dal Lake, Hazratbal Shrine is one of the holiest pilgrimage sites for Muslims in India. Also known as Dargah Hazratbal, this mosque was established by the Inayat Begum. This extravagant building was built in the 17th century by Emperor Shah Jahan and was converted into a prayer hall in 1634. The majestic and architecturally unique mosque houses an important relic Moi-e-Muqaddas, the sacred hair of Prophet Mohammad. This Persian-influenced-style mosque is the only domed mosque in Kashmir. Hazratbal Shrine is also known as Assar-e-Sharief, Dargah Sharif, and Madinat-us-Sani. It is a perfect place to get glimpses of the rich cultural heritage and glorious history of Kashmir.
