Ganga Dussehra is a bathing festival that is celebrated for ten days. During this festival, the Ganga river is worshiped along with offerings and bhajans. According to popular legend, Ganga descended on earth at this time. She was initially reluctant to come down from heaven, but the meditation of Bhagiratha compelled her to do so.

How to Celebrate Ganga Dussehra in Uttarakhand? 

In the evening, lamps are floated, and devotional songs are sung. The clay is taken home, and so is the holy water. It is also believed that the water has the power to sanctify your home. During this period, people dip in the sacred river to cleanse themselves of their sins. It is believed that the pure waters of the Ganges can wash off all your sins.
