Best Time to Visit Rupin Pass
May to June and September to October are the best months to visit Rupin Pass. The summer and post-monsoon seasons are ideal times when the region enjoys favorable weather for trekking. Heavy snowfall and rain showers make trekking difficult during the winter and monsoon season.
Where is Rupin Pass Located?
Rupin Pass is a high-altitude mountain pass that was a part of the traditional shepherd and hiking route. The trek starts from Dhaula in Uttarakhand and ends in Sangla in Himachal Pradesh. Dhaula is easily accessible from Dehradun by road. Dehradun airport and railway station are well-connected with the major cities and states of the country.
Rupin Pass Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Dehradun – Dhaula
On your arrival at Dehradun Railway Station, meet our tour guides and get transferred to Dhaula. A night stay is scheduled at Dhaula.
Day 2: Dhaula (5100 ft.) – Sewa (6299 ft.)
Today, from Dhaula (5100 ft.), you indulge in a trek to Sewa (6299 ft.). Overnight stay at Sewa.
Day 3: Sewa (6299 ft.) – Jhaka (8700 ft.)
On day three, continue your trek from Sewa (6299 ft.) to Jhaka (8700 ft.). Overnight stay at Jhaka.
Day 4: Jhaka (8700 ft.) to Saruwas Thatch (10250 ft.)
On the fourth day of your Rupin Pass Trek tour, you trek from Jhaka to Saruwas Thatch. Stay overnight at Saruwas thatch.
Day 5: Saruwas Thatch (10250 ft.) – Dhanderas Thatch / lower waterfall camp (11680 ft.)
Again start your trek from Saruwas thatch (10250 ft.) to Dhanderas Thatch (11680 ft.) or lower waterfall camp. Overnight at the camp.
Day 6: Dhanderas Thatch (11680 ft.) – Upper Waterfall camp (13300 ft.)
Day six is scheduled for the trek from Dhanderas Thatch (11680 ft.) to Upper Waterfall Camp (13300 ft.). A night stay at camp.
Day 7: Upper Waterfall (13120 ft.) – Rupin Pass (15250 ft.) – Ronti Gad (13420 ft.)
Today, from Upper Waterfall, you trek to Rupin Pass (15250 ft.). As you finally reach the main destination, enjoy the peaceful ambiance and scenic surroundings. Later, indulge in a trek from Rupin Pass (15250 ft.) to Ronti Gad (13420 ft.). An overnight stay at Ronti Gad.
Day 8: Ronti Gad (13420 ft.) – Sangla (8800 ft.)
On the 8th and last day of your trek tour, you trek from Ronti Gad (13420 ft.) to Sangla (8800 ft.). On reaching Sangla stay overnight or proceed ahead for your onward journey.
Day 5 or Day 6, one of the days might be used as an extra day. If the weather is good, you may trek from Saruwas Thatch to Upper Waterfall, else, either of the fifth or sixth days would be used for leisure. The rest of the itinerary is the same, there is no change in the number of days.
