Koyna Dam
Situated in the Western Ghats, sandwiched between Kara and Chiplun, Koyna dam is the largest dam in the Maharashtra state. This dam, whose construction got completed in 1963, provides hydroelectric power and is the main source of water for the western region of the state. Koyna dam also provides water to the Shivsagar Lake.
Walavalkar Shivaji Museum
A must-visit attraction, Walavalkar Shivaji Museum is an amazing place, showcasing the life history of the great Maratha ruler, Shivaji. There are statues and pictures are on display in this museum. This museum was founded by Sitarambuva Walvalkar, a well-known social worker in the state.
Nehru Smriti Udyan
The Nehru Smriti Udyan is another popular attraction of Chiplun, which also offers a full view of the Koyna dam. This well-manicured and beautiful garden also offers a view of the Koyna Lake that is spread in an area of 50 km that is popular for its sweet water fish. You need to spend INR 5 per person to visit this garden.
Vashishti River
River Vashishti is one of the largest rivers in the Konkan region. This river originates from the Western Ghats and its banks are the site where the beautiful Chiplun town is placed. Marleshwar Temple
The beauty Marleshwar Temple is a cave temple that is placed in the Marleshwar town of Ratnagiri district. Sacred grooves bound this temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is visited by devotees in large number during Makar Sankranti. It is said that the foundation of the temple was laid down by Sage Parhuram. Dhareshwar waterfall is another popular attraction, near the temple.
Parshuram Temple
Parshuram Temple is an ancient temple in Chiplun. Parshuram was a popular sage who was considered to be the 6th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The architecture of this temple is a mix of Hindu and architecture styles. Behind the temple of Parshuram, there is another temple, dedicated to Goddess Renuka, the mother of Parshuram.
