M.V. Mahabahu Cruise

Labeled as the ‘Gateway to the North Eastern Part of India’, Assam is blessed with the treasure troves of nature- rolling hills, plains and dense forests. The 9 day long M.V.Mahabahu cruise, beginning from Kolkata, takes you on an enthralling tour across the famous destinations in the North Eastern part of India. During the journey, you will come across temples, tribal villages, monasteries, ancient places and tea estates among others. In a nutshell, the journey offers a sneak peek into the cultural ethos of North East India.
 

Detail Itinerary


Day 1 Kolkata (Arrival)

Upon arrival at the airport, our tour representative will meet you and assist you in smooth transfer to the hotel. The day is free to relax followed by overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 2 Kolkata - Guwahati (Flight) – Kiriakara

Guests will be given safety briefing followed by a welcome dinner.

Today, in the morning, board a flight to Guwahati. Upon arrival in Guwahati, meet our tour representative who'll assist you in smooth transfer to the ship. En-route, if time permits, visit the temple of Kamakhya Devi. The temple is dedicated to Kamakhya Devi, the goddess of desires. Upon arrival, board the vessel and check-in to your pre-allocated rooms. In the evening, the M.V.Mahabaahu starts sailing towards Kirikara.

Day 3 Kiriakara – Tezpur

In the morning, enjoy your breakfast and starts sailing towards Tezpur. During the cruise, enjoy a massage in our spa, soak in the Jacuzzi and swim in the pool. Optionally, you may like to do some bird watching from the decks and enjoy the fleeting sight of the Gangetic Dolphin. You may like to watch a DVD on the tribes of Assam and read some books in our well-stocked library. In the afternoon, enjoy a presentation on the 'Wildlife of Kaziranga'. In the evening, the cruiser will anchor at Tezpur.

Day 4 Tezpur –Silghat:

Post breakfast in the morning, the cruiser will start sailing towards Silghat. Later, enjoy lunch on board. Upon arrival at Silghat, the cruiser will drop anchor. In the afternoon, disembark the ship at Silghat and leave by road to a nearby Tea Estate. Later, stroll through the manicured gardens and behold tea pickers at work. Later, indulge in a discussion about how to make a cup of tea. Later, enjoy a cultural program followed by return to the ship for dinner.

Day 5 Kaziranga – Bishwanath

Early morning, set off for the Kaziranga National Park, the sole home of the One-horned Rhinoceros. Post breakfast at a resort in Kaziranga, return to Kohora Gate for wildlife exploration via Jeep Safari. Later, return to the ship for lunch and continue your sail to Bishwanath. Guests will be taken to Bishwanath village via small boats. Here, guests will watch the art of cotton and silk weaving by women in their houses. In the evening, enjoy a traditional dance performance on board followed by demonstration about how to wear an Assamese sari.

Day 6 Bishwanath Ghat – Towards Majuli:

As the ship starts sailing towards Majuli, watch a DVD on 'Tribes of the North East'. Post lunch, enjoy a boat safari and explore the natural treasures of Majuli Island. Later, return to the vessel and sail further towards Majuli. Later in the evening, take delight in the cooking demonstration followed by a bonfire session at an isolated island. Later, return to the vessel for dinner.

Day 7 Majuli Island

Today, start your sail towards Majuli. En-route, disembark for a visit to the nearby Mishing village. After exploring the village, guests will continue sailing towards Majuli and enjoy lunch on board the ship. Later, you have an option for massage, Jacuzzi bath and swimming in the pool. Other than this, you can enjoy watching dolphins and birds from the deck. The cruiser will anchor at Majuli. Enjoy a healthy discussion on the presence of Vaishnavism in Assam followed by dinner.

Day 8 Majuli - Nimati – Sibsagar

Today, in the morning, enjoy a Yoga session on board. Post breakfast, depart for Majuli Island and visit the Satara monasteries. Majuli is the treasure trove of Assamese culture and ancient monasteries built around the 15th century. In Majuli, visit the Samagudi Satra and take delight in the mask dance. Guests will also explore the Kamlabadi Satra and watch young monks perform Matia Khora. Later, return to M.V. Mahabaahu for lunch and start sailing. Upon arrival at Nimati, drop anchor and enjoy your farewell dinner on board.

Day 9 Nimati - Jorhat

Post breakfast in the morning, de-board the ship and travel towards Sibsagar, the ancient city of the Ahom Kings. Sibsanagar was inhabited by the Thai-speaking Ahoms who came to this place in the 13th century from Yunnan, China. The town is dotted with the ruins of the powerful Ahom Empire. The Shiva Temple constructed in the year 1734 is believed to be the highest Hindu temple in India. From here onwards, leave by road for airport with packed lunch and board the flight to Kolkata. Upon arrival, board the flight back home.


Accommodation

Accommodation in M.V. Mahabahu Cruise is offered in terms of 23 aesthetically designed rooms classified as 12 Superior Rooms, 9 Superior Cabins and 2 Suites. Each room has a balcony attached to it.

Superior Cabins (Deck I):  Spread over 150 square feet, the 12 Superior Cabins include the cabin and bathroom.

Superior Cabins (Deck II): Spread over206 square feet,the 9 Superior Cabins includes cabin, balcony and the bathroom.

Suites: Spread over 283.2 square feet, the 2 Suites includes the cabin, bathroom and the balcony. 

Dining

The culinary experts at the M.V. Mahabahu Cruise serve a wide range of Indian and Continental cuisines which are prepared by using locally sourced ingredients. All the meals are inclusive of tea & coffee served in the main indoor dining restaurant. In case of prior notification, the dietary prerequisites of guests can be met along with their preferred alcoholic beverages.
