Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport from Badrinath, at the distance of 311 kilometers. The airport has flights connecting to Delhi, Lucknow and Mumbai. You can opt to hire a taxi from the railway station or can board a bus from nearest bus station to reach Badrinath.

By Train

Nearest railway station from Badrinath is Haridwar Railway Station, at the distance of 318 Kilometers.  This railway station is a broad-gauged station is connected to other major railway stations of the country. 

By Road

Delhi to Badrinath by Road

Badrinath is well connected with the national capital by road network. One can reach Badrinath via NH 334 and NH 7 from Delhi. The government-run buses and private buses ply regularly from Maharana Pratap Inter State Bus Terminal for Badrinath. However, there are few direct buses for Badrinath. Although, tourists can board a deluxe or semi-deluxe bus for Haridwar and Rishikesh and from there they can easily get a bus, jeep, or hire a taxi for Badrinath.

Note: Tourists can drive in their own car from Delhi or hire a cab from Delhi to Badrinath.

Route: Delhi – Ghaziabad – Muzaffarnagar – Roorkee – Haridwar – Rishikesh – Devprayag – Srinagar – Rudraprayag – Karnaprayag – Joshimath - Badrinath

Road conditions: From Delhi to Rishikesh, the road conditions are excellent. Although, after this, the hilly terrain starts, and the road becomes narrow as well as bumpy.

Rishikesh railway station is the nearest railhead from Badrinath, which is located at 294 km. From Rishikesh, you can board a bus or shared jeep for Badrinath. You can also hire a private taxi from here to the pilgrimage site. The roads are well-maintained and easily accessible from the major towns and cities of Uttarakhand.

Delhi to Badrinath by Flight

Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun is the nearest airport from Badrinath Temple, which is located at 308 km. From Delhi, you can board a flight for Dehradun and from there you can travel by road or by helicopter. From the Sahastradhara helipad, you can board a helicopter to Badrinath Dham.

Delhi to Badrinath Road Tips:

  • Take a night halt in Haridwar and Joshimath as it is very strenuous to cover the distance in one stretch.
  • It is highly recommendable to avoid driving at night in the hilly areas as the road conditions are not very good after Rishikesh.

How to reach Badrinath from Kedarnath

Kedarnath to Badrinath by Road

There is no direct bus from Kedarnath to Badrinath. The best way to travel to Badrinath is to hire a taxi from Sonprayag as it is the last point for all kinds of vehicles heading to Kedarnath. Otherwise, board a shared jeep or hire a taxi from Sonprayag till Joshimath and from there one can easily get a bus or shared jeep till Badrinath.

Route: Sonprayag – Uktimath – Chamoli – Joshimath – Govind Ghat – Badrinath

Distance & Travel Time: 211 km (approx.) and 8 hours 30 minutes (approx.)

Kedarnath to Badrinath by helicopter

Badrinath and Kedarnath are a part of Char Dham Yatra and pilgrims can travel to these holy sites by helicopter as well. Devotees can board a helicopter from Kedarnath to Phata helipad, from where again board a helicopter headed for Badrinath.
