Best Craft Workshops and Markets on the Golden Triangle Tour
a) Delhi
Delhi, the capital city of India, is the starting point of the Golden Triangle Tour.
As you walk through the lanes, you’ll find artisans crafting beautiful pieces passed down through generations.
One of the highlights of Delhi is that it’s not just home to Northern crafts—crafts from all over India are created here.
Whether it’s traditional handicrafts or items made using modern technology, Delhi offers it all. Now, let’s explore the craft markets in Delhi where you can buy these wonderful creations.
1. Delhi Haat
If there’s one place in Delhi for crafts, it’s definitely Delhi Haat.
In this market, you can find a variety of crafts—unique wood and teak handicrafts, metal crafts, handcrafted jewellery, ethnic apparel, clothing made from camel leather, and more.
Here, you can even watch artisans at work and interact with them to learn about the history of their unique crafts when they were created.
2. Janpath Market
The next best craft market in Delhi is Janpath. If you’re looking for home décor, fabrics, or jewellery, this is the place to be.
This market also offers many street food stalls, so try some local delicacies while exploring. After all, what’s a trip without food, right?
3. Nature Bazaar
Another excellent craft market in Delhi is Nature Bazaar.
Even though it was initially intended to be a marketplace for selling agricultural goods directly to consumers, it became unsuccessful.
Dastkar, a handicrafts organisation, took over and transformed it into a craft market.
Most of the stalls in the market are occupied by different craftsmen from across India. So you can find almost all the crafts from India in this market.
4. Chandi Chowk
If you come to Delhi, you can’t ignore Chandni Chowk. Whether you want to buy sarees, handicrafts, metal products, wooden items, or anything related to Indian culture, this market has it all.
This market doesn’t just sell handicrafts; there are many streets offering mouthwatering cuisines that you can also taste while exploring the market.
b) Agra
The next city we have in our Golden Triangle tour is Taj Nagri, Agra, where the Mughals ruled for centuries. In this city, you can easily find crafts influenced by Mughal art. Let’s explore the famous crafts markets of Agra.
1. Sadar Bazar:
After visiting the Taj Mahal, head to the nearby Sadar Bazar.
If you are looking for budget-friendly handicrafts, this is the best place to shop. The most famous items you can buy here are leather goods and wooden handicrafts. You can also taste Mughlai cuisine while exploring the market.
2. Kinari Bazar:
Looking for wedding shopping? Want to buy something for a wedding? Then Kinari Bazar is the best place to shop. It’s near Jama Masjid, so after exploring the Jama Masjid, you can come here to shop.
The handicrafts here range from rings, leather products, and textiles, but my favourite is the marble products. I also recommend buying some marble products from here to take home. These marble products are perfect for beautifying your home and can be used in home decoration.
3. Shilpagram:
If you are looking for products with a centuries-old tradition, a visit to Shilpagram is a must. Local artists make handicrafts, carpets, and woven items here that you can buy as souvenirs.
c) Jaipur
Jaipur’s handicraft markets are brimming with clothing, furniture, footwear, accessories, and food items. Their uniqueness makes them excellent gifts for loved ones.
Check out these markets in Jaipur to shop for handicraft items. All of them are excellent places to be, so explore them all, and you won’t be disappointed.
1. Johari Bazaar
Want to buy some jewellery?
Then, there is no better market in the Golden Triangle circuit than Johari Bazaar.
This market has all of these, whether it’s meenakari, kundan, lac bangles, or any other type of jewellery.
I brought home meenakari jewellery from here for my mom’s birthday, and she was so happy.
The intricate designs and craftsmanship are a testament to the legacy passed down from generation to generation, making these jewellery pieces famous.
2. Chandpole Bazar
The Chandpole Bazaar is one of the oldest shopping areas in Jaipur, boasting handicrafts, carvings, and other hand-loomed items.
Here, visit Khazanewalon ka Rasta, which houses the most decorative handicrafts in Jaipur, including traditional Jootis, Handicrafts, Sculptures, Carpets, Turbans, and more!
3. Bapu Bazaar
Bapu Bazaar is an all-in-one shopping street that sells almost everything the other markets have.
So, if you are looking for one place to shop for all handicrafts, this market can be your choice.
Normally, the market remains crowded, so visiting during the morning is recommended.
Here, you can find anything you need to buy or take home as a souvenir. The market specialises in Jaipuri items like dupattas (traditional veils), juttis (footwear), sarees, kurtis, scarves, bridal lehengas, and lac bangles at reasonable prices.
The handicrafts you can buy here include brass work, Kundan stonework items, wooden products, and more, which brighten up the market. You’ll also find bed sheets, cushion covers, fabrics, and other traditionally block-printed items.
