The historic town of Bharatpur is one of the most popular tourist destinations of Rajasthan. Bharatpur’s Keoladeo National Park is also known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to 364 species of birds and this makes the city a must-visit place to visit in Rajasthan. In the center of the sanctuary lies an ancient Lord Shiva Temple, from which the name of the sanctuary has been derived.
Another major attraction of Bharatpur is Lohagarh Fort (iron fort); its christening complements the fact that this is one of the strongest structures of India, which withstood several attacks. The fort houses a museum that has a collection if stone sculptures, terracottas, coins, inscriptions, art and more.
