Hotel Laxmi Vilas Palace was built in 1857 and is spread over an impressive 50 acres. It was built for Raja Raghunath Singh who was the younger brother of Maharaja Ram Singh, the ruler of Bharatpur in those times. The building is the perfect blend of Mughal and Rajput architectural styles and was called Raghunath Niwas in those times. However, locally people called it Kakaji ki Kothi. The palace was turned into a heritage hotel in 1994. Even now most ceremonial rooms are used on festivals like Dusshera and Diwali.
