Rajasthan Lifestyle Exhibition To Begin Nov 21

It’s time to gear up for the Treasures of Rajasthan Season II-A Lifestyle Exhibition as the final dates get announced by Diya Kumari, head of The Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust.

The exhibition promises a complete treat to lovers of Rajasthani handicrafts and accessories. With a vast collection of luxury craft, textiles and fashion accessories, this exhibition takes one through the rich and unique treasure of Rajasthan.

Rajasthan Lifestyle ExhibitionIGNCA (Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts) opens its doors for this exceptional lifestyle exhibition on 21st and 22nd November 2014. The key highlights of the Rajasthan lifestyle exhibition will be presented through four main areas including Arts and Crafts, Travel & Tourism, Gems & Jewelry and Garments &Textiles.

As soon as the Rajasthan Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje inaugurates the exhibition on Nov 21, people will get to see handpicked textiles and garments which have been prepared using the age-old techniques such as leheriya, tie-and-dye and gotapati.

Also, traditional kundan-polki jewellery and contemporary fashion accessories will be showcased. The star attraction of the exhibition would be selected handicrafts, objects d’art, blue pottery, hand tufted carpets, blue pottery, paintings and lacquer products.

On this great occasion, Princess Diya Kumari of Jaipur said, “The Rajasthan lifestyle exhibition aims to encourage and revive the state’s languishing arts and crafts and is an extension of my endeavor to not just keep the crafts alive but to also provide a means of livelihood to its practitioners.

It is also a continuation of a family tradition of promoting arts and crafts, started way back in the 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II, who set up 36 karkhanas or state patronized ateliers of different crafts. I feel duty bound to preserve and promote my cultural inheritance.”
