The nearest international airport is in Delhi (770 km away).

Jaisalmer By Road: Jaisalmer has a well-maintained network of roads connected to nearby cities of Jaisalmer and the country. Therefore, travelers have many options of buses and private and sharing taxis. How to Reach Jaisalmer from Delhi?

Jaisalmer is well-connected from Delhi by road network. It is situated almost 800 km from Delhi. There are three routes by which they are connected. Tourists can travel by car or hire a taxi/cab to travel to Jaisalmer. Here are the best routes:

Jaisalmer from Delhi by Road (Car/Taxi/Cab)

Route 1: Delhi → Bahadur Garh → Rohtak → Hisar → Fatehpur → Bikaner → Jaisalmer

Distance – 766 km (approx.)

Travel Time – 14 hours (across NH 9 and NH 52)

Road Conditions: From Delhi to Rohtak, the road condition is good, but you can face heavy traffic. After that, the road is excellent, and you can maintain the speed till Bikaner.

It is difficult to cover the distance in a stretch, so a night’s stay is recommended at Bikaner.

Road Conditions: The road from Delhi to Jaipur is excellent. Nagaur to Jaisalmer road is also in good shape.

Note– It is recommendable to take a night halt at Jaipur.

Road Conditions:  From Delhi to Jodhpur, the road condition is good. The route from Beawar to Pokhran is bumpy and dusty. After this, till Jaisalmer, the highway is in excellent condition.

Note– This route will take you through Jaipur, Ajmer, Beawar, Jodhpur, and Pokhran. Tourists can continue with this one or choose route 2 after Jaipur.

  • From Delhi to Jaipur, the road conditions are good. But leave early in the morning for the road trip as there can be heavy traffic till the Delhi border during the peak hours.
  • Take the bypass road if you are not visiting Jaipur and head straight towards Ajmer. The bypass is some 45 km before Jaipur.
  • The road from Beawar to Pokhran is average. However, some patches are even worse. So drive carefully.
  • Make sure your vehicle is in good condition and can face any condition on the road.
  • Ensure your car or taxi is properly serviced as it is a very busy route.
  • There is no shortage of gas stations and eateries as all the routes pass through the major cities.
