What is the story behind Triyuginarayan Temple?

Triyuginarayan Temple is one of the lesser-known religious spots in Uttarakhand. It is a Vaishnavite shrine that has existed for three ages, or “triyug”. That is why it is called Triyugi Narayan.  Also called the wedding destination of Lord Shiva, Triyuginarayan Temple is said to be where the wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati took place in front of Lord Vishnu, hence the temple Triyugi Narayan was built to honor them. People also believe that Lord Vishnu made all the arrangements for this celestial wedding. The Lord also acted as the brother of Goddess Parvati, while Lord Brahma played the role of a priest in a marriage.  As per Hindu traditions, the couple has to take seven rounds, also called saat phere. A holy fire in the front of the temple continues endlessly. Due to this reason, this temple is also called Akhand Dhuni Temple, and people take wood as an offering at the eternal fire and, in return, take holy ash with them.
