History of Gadsisar Lake

Originally, Gadisar Lake was a water conservation tank which was used to fulfill the water requirements of the city. It was built back in 1400 AD by the then Maharaja of Jaisalmer, Maharwal Gadsi Singh. Today, the lake does not serve the same purpose of supplying water to Jaisalmer, but it preserves most of the rainwater.

How to reach Gadsisar Lake 

By Air: Fly into Jaisalmer Airport and take a 20-minute taxi ride to the lake.

By Train: Arrive at Jaisalmer Railway Station, just 2.5 km from the lake. Hire a tuk-tuk or cab for a short ride.

By Road: Drive or take a bus to Jaisalmer, and follow the city's road signs to the lake.
