A holy town that has entwined in itself a mythological belief that it is preserved by Lord Brahma, Pushkar fascinates religious pilgrims from all over the world. The mythical charm of this city in Rajasthan has culminated into setting up of numerous bathing ghats and temples within its boundaries.
Situated along the banks of a picturesque lake, the tranquil town of Pushkar is an important pilgrimage spot for the Hindus. Legends has it that the creator of the universe, Lord Brahma performed Yagna at Pushkar and the town’s three sacred lakes were sprouted by the falling of rose petals from the hands of the Lord himself.
Owing to such a belief, Pushkar has attained a divine position amongst the top pilgrimage destinations in India. The town is home to the only temple of Lord Brahma in the country and in the world, which is one of its popular tourist attractions. Besides the rare Brahma temple, Pushkar speaks proudly of its other temples as well, which count to more than 400.
