It is situated 43 kms to the north-east of Sambalpur on NH-6. Though this sanctuary remains open all the year round, the best period to visit is from November to June.

Badarama Wildlife Sanctuary in Orissa, India lies at an elevation of 1,200 ft. from the sea level. It covers the complete Ushakothi Block of the Badarama Forest Division, an area of almost 80 sq. miles. The main attractions of the Badarama Wildlife Sanctuary are the huge herds of sambar and bison. The visitors can also see herds of panther, bear, tiger, wild bear, leopard, barking deer, elephant and spotted deer at this place. This sanctuary has two masonry watch towers of 30 feet height from which the visitors can watch the animals roaming in their natural surroundings.
