It is situated about 70 kilometers from Rajahmundry, close to River Godavari. The backwaters of the river offer an ideal natural habitat for different animals and birds.

The picturesque location offers an ideal location for tourists to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. The tourism department has taken efforts to provide all necessary facilities to tourists. The forest rest house offers excellent accommodation facilities.

The climate in the region is quite hot and humid. The summer months can be extremely dry. The region receives south-west monsoons during the months between June and September.

The rich vegetation of the region includes plants like Rhizophora, Avicennia, Sonneratia and Aegiceros. This facilitates animals and birds and offers a home to them.

The Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary is unique as it is the only surviving mangrove forest vegetation. Rare species of trees are available in this region. The stretch of sand in the sanctuary is special to the reserve.

Some of the wildlife found in the wildlife sanctuary is Otter, Jackal, Estuarine Crocodile and Fishing Cat. Some native as well as migratory birds visit the wildlife reserve. Exceptionally protected species like Sea Turtle and Estuarine Crocodile are found in the region. The avian population of the Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary includes Snipes, Ducks, Flamingos and Sea Gulls.

The best season to visit the Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary is between October and May as the weather during this time of the year is pleasant and you are more likely to watch animals in their natural habitat.
