Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary consists of the catchment region of Tansa Lake in addition to the neighboring forests of Khardi, Vaitarna, Shahapur and East Wada Ranges in the Tehsil of Shahapur in Thane district. Tansa Lake serves as the perpetual source of water to the various species of fauna of this sanctuary.
