Sal, saja, tendu, dhawda, haldu are the main species of trees that populate the sanctuary. These trees remain populated with various birds, both domestic and migratory.
The winter months the sanctuary wakes up to a new life, with the vibrancy of the colorful birds and their chirpings. For bird watching, tourists can choose either dawn or dusk, as these are the best times to spot birds. Apart from this there are arrangements for the jungle safaris by the four wheeled petrol or diesel vehicles. These vehicles are well-maintained, so that they do not cause any harm to the wild life.
Tourists can visit the national park from the months of October to June as in this time the sanctuary remains in its most beautiful form. As soon as the rainy season commences, the sanctuary is closed for the safety of the tourists. The nearest railway station is Rewa and the nearest airport is the Banaras airport in Uttar Pradesh. Visitors can drive down the wonderful roads and experience the natural splendor of the place.
