Introduction

Being the base to some of the major trek routes in North-Sikkim and gateway to the pristine Guru Dongmar and Tso Lhamu lakes, Lachen is one of the most popular tourist spots in Sikkim. The place is settled at an altitude up to 2750 m, surrounded by endless enchanting greenery and is around 109km away from Gangtok. The scenic surrounding and the serene ambience of the place attract visitors from all parts of the world. The town is mainly inhabited by Bhutia tribes and Tibetans following Nyingma order of Himalayan Buddhism.

Lachen in Sikkim is a small town which is noted for its striking Lachen monastery. The iconic monastery is constructed atop the village offering the vast expanse of the place.  Further, talking about the lush vegetation, Lachen is best noted for its apple orchards and pine covered valleys. The snow capped peaks of Eastern Himalayas offer a panoramic view to it visitors.
