Cuttack is the commercial capital of the state of Orissa in India. It is one of the oldest towns and is situated 30 kms from the city of Bhubaneswar. It was founded by king Nripati Keshari in the 10th century and later on was ruled by the Afgans, Marathas and Mughals before coming under the dominance of the British Empire.

In 1956 the capital of Orissa was shifted from Cuttack to Bhubaneshwar. Cuttack is like an island and is situated at the Mahanadi delta. It is because of its commercialization and historical importance that Cuttack has gone on to become the favored tourist destination of many a tourist.

The Quadam-I- Rasool Mosque is one that has significance for both Hindus and Muslims. It was constructed by a Hindu ruler for the Muslims in the 18th century. In the interior there are three mosques and the central one has a stone with footprints of prophet Muhammad. Dhavaleshwar is a lovely island which you must try out because of its fascinating locales and the Temple of Lord Shiva.
