The second oldest tea estate in Darjeeling is spread in a vast area of 437 acres and is located at a height of 6,800 ft. above sea level. Happy Valley Tea Estate was established in the year 1854, approximately 3 kilometers north of Darjeeling. While walking through the winding downhill lanes, astonishing panoramic views of vast tea gardens can be enjoyed while the salubrious ambience of the area is quite refreshing and rejuvenating. From a distance, you can see the roofed building of the tea production factory where the raw leaves are processed.
The estate is the nearest one located from the main Darjeeling town and is often visited by curious travelers who want to savor exquisite views and witness tea making process closely. Local employees, who work as guides during their off time can be accessed to show you around the entire process at a nominal fee. The tea plantations can be a great location, saved from the noise and bedlam of urbanity and also to relish some romantic moments between the couples. The estate remains open for visitors from Tuesday to Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm.
