History:

Laxman Temple, Chhattisgarh is one of the oldest temples in the city with a structure that displays the ancient style of building temples. The temple has an ethnic and traditional look.

Description:

On the top of the entrance of the Laxman Temple, Mahasamund there is a Sheshnaag that serves as an umbrella to Load Shiva. On the sides of the entrance there are incarnations of Load Vishnu, Krishna Leela ornamental symbols and erotic carvings. The pillars of this Panchrath type temple are engraved with the religious segments of a temple. The religious segments of a temple include Bharwahakgana, Vatayan, Chitya Gawaksha, Kirtimukh, Karna Amalak and Aja. The inside of the Laxman Temple in Mahasamund in India has a Mandap (shelter), Antraal (passage) and Garbha Grih (the main house). Every year thousands of visitors from each and every corner of the world and from all over India visit this beautiful temple. A museum has been established in the temple premises by the Archaeological Survey of India. The museum displays a collection of rare statues as well as other relics significant and important to the Vaishnava, Shaiva, Buddhist and Jain faiths.
