Silent Valley National Park is positioned in the Palghat (Palakkad) district of Kerala. Nestled amidst the Kundali Hills of the beautiful Western Ghats, Silent Valley boasts of a priceless reserve of wildlife.

Celebrated chiefly for its rich and assorted population of moths and butterflies, Silent Valley houses over 100 types of butterflies, in addition to 400 classes of moths. This park also gives shelter to more than 26 types of mammals, along with 120 categories of birds, which includes some endangered categories as well.
At this sanctuary, you can also find 11 categories of reptiles, 9 lizards’ species and 19 types of amphibians. When you come to Silent Valley, make sure to watch the Malabar Giant Squirrel, Lion-tailed Macaques, Ceylon Frog Moth, Deer, Tigers, Bonnet Macaques, Nilgiri Langurs, Leopards, Wild Dogs, Stripe-necked Mongoose, Elephants, Sloth Bears, Porcupines and Indian Pangolin.
Among the wide variety of birds, you may see Hawk Eagles, Indian Black-crested Baza, Great Indian Hornbills, Shaheen Falcons, Nilgiri Laughing Thrushes and the Short-eared Owls. Some other sorts of wildlife are also recorded at this place which includes two fishes, 15 types of invertebrates and two amphibians.
