Pathiramanal is an islet in Alappuzha (Kerala). It is a paradise for bird-lovers since it is home to more than hundred species of birds which consists of pintail ducks, night heron, common teal, darter, Indian shag, purple heron, cormorant, gulls, large egrets, terns, cotton pygmy-goose, intermediate egret, Indian pond heron, cattle egret, little egret, pheasant-tailed and bronze-winged jacanas, stork-billed kingfisher, whistling duck, watercock, little cormorant and whiskered tern among others. Rare birds like monarch flycatcher are also sometimes spotted in the area. Two lakes surround Pathiramanal, namely Vembanad Lake and Kayamkulam Lake.
You can reach Pathiramanal after a one and half speedboat ride from Alappuzha. It is always ideal to stopover here while backwater cruising onboard kettuvalam.
