Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, an ancient, religious, and sacred temple located approximately 30 km from the city of Rishikesh. The temple is perched on a hill at an altitude of 1675 meters and once you reach the spot; it's an unfathomable beauty of the surroundings that welcome you. When you enter the temple there is a Shiva Lingam placed in the sanctum sanctorum and there is a presiding deity of the temple in the phallic form. Lord Shiva is worshipped as Neelkanth, whose literal translation is “the God with Blue Throat”.

Neelkanth Mahadev Temple has a historic past as it is the spot where Lord Shiva consumed the venom of Samudra Manthan. Before the devotees are allowed to enter the temple, they have to take a dip in the natural spring inside the temple. Coconut, honey, fruits, flowers, milk, and holy water are offered to the lord in this temple.
